 Welcome

Life can feel overwhelming when emotions take over and clarity feels out of reach. I believe meaningful change is possible for everyone, regardless of circumstance. Through an authentic and supportive approach, I help clients gain perspective, feel more grounded, and move forward with confidence.

Hello, I’m Marissa.

A young woman with long blonde hair smiling outdoors with a wooden fence in the background.

I’m Marissa, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and the founder of MRH Therapy.

Above all else, I’m a person navigating this world—just like you. I believe therapy works best when it’s grounded in authenticity, not distance, and I bring my genuine self into every session.

My work is informed by both my clinical training and lived experience. I earned my MA in Mental Health Counseling from Montclair State University in 2019 and have over seven years of experience supporting adults, adolescents, and families. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and self-esteem.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy connecting with nature (especially on walks with my dog, Franklin), running, trying new restaurants, traveling, and binging a new TV show.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin therapy. Though your experience is always unique, these are some of the areas I commonly support.

  • Relationship challenges can arise with partners, family members, friends, or coworkers. When conflict, miscommunication, or emotional distance begins to affect your well-being, having a supportive space to sort through it can be helpful.

In therapy, we’ll explore the dynamics at play and clarify what you need moving forward. Together, we’ll work on improving communication, building empathy, and identifying meaningful steps toward healthier, more fulfilling connections. The focus is not on blame, but on understanding, growth, and supporting your well-being.

  • Life transitions—such as a new job, a move, relationship changes, or becoming a parent—can bring up a wide range of emotions, even when the change is positive. Feeling uncertain, overwhelmed, or unsettled during these moments is common.

Therapy provides a supportive space to process these emotions and gain clarity during times of change. Together, we’ll identify tools, supports, and perspectives that help you navigate transitions with more confidence and direction. You don’t have to have everything figured out—taking things one step at a time is enough.

  • Struggles with self-esteem can affect many areas of life, including relationships, confidence, and decision-making. Low self-worth often shows up as self-doubt, harsh self-criticism, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling “not enough.”

In therapy, we’ll explore the experiences that have shaped how you see yourself and work toward building a more balanced, compassionate inner voice. The goal isn’t forced positivity, but developing confidence that feels authentic, grounded, and supportive. Together, we’ll focus on recognizing your strengths, rebuilding trust in yourself, and strengthening your sense of self-worth.

  • Anxiety is more than everyday nerves—it can feel overwhelming, consuming your thoughts and making even small steps feel difficult. You may find yourself stuck in cycles of worry, spiraling thoughts, or intense emotions that are hard to manage alone.

In therapy, we’ll explore how anxiety shows up for you and develop practical strategies to help you cope, gain clarity, and move through life with greater confidence. Therapy provides a supportive space to slow down, understand what’s beneath the anxiety, and reconnect with a steadier, more grounded version of yourself.

  • Depression is more than sadness—it can show up as emptiness, exhaustion, loss of interest, difficulty concentrating, or physical symptoms that make daily life feel heavy and overwhelming. It can feel hard to move forward, even when you’re trying your best.

In therapy, we’ll explore how depression is affecting you and work together to create supportive, personalized strategies to help you reconnect with yourself, rebuild motivation, and find steadiness. Therapy offers a space to feel understood and supported as you move toward relief, clarity, and renewed hope.

  • Trauma doesn’t have a single definition—what matters is how an experience affected you. Trauma can stem from events that felt overwhelming, frightening, or destabilizing, whether they happened suddenly or over time.

In therapy, we’ll explore how past experiences continue to show up in your present life. Therapy provides a safe, supportive space to process the emotional, physical, and relational effects of trauma at your own pace. Our work will focus on building coping tools, restoring a sense of control, and supporting healing that feels grounded, empowering, and aligned with who you are becoming.
